Dry your washing faster this autumn with little-known washing machine hack - Mirror Online
As the chill of winter approaches, Brits face the challenge of drying clothes indoors – a task that's both daunting and time-consuming due to shorter days and damp weather. Gone are the days of line-dried laundry in the summer sun.
However, decluttering guru Nicola Lewis has come to the rescue with a nifty trick to speed up indoor drying times. With nearly 200,000 followers hanging on her every word on Instagram, Nicola recently dropped a "secret" washing machine hack in her latest video, "How to dry your clothes indoors," which could see your clothes ready to wear in no time.
She suggested if you run the "Drum/Spin" setting twice it will massively speed up the drying process. Her catchy mantra, "Double Spin for the Win" is quickly becoming a hit among her fans. Nicola advises that after the wash cycle ends, spinning the clothes once more without adding water can significantly reduce their dampness. This additional spin wrings out extra moisture, slashing drying time considerably, reports the Express.
The caption of her video advised: "Double spin your laundry! Your clothes will come out much drier, allowing them to dry quicker. Always give your clothes a quick shake before hanging to dry to remove any creases." But Nicola's wisdom extends beyond just the washer. In her latest home-saving tips, Nicola reveals her efficient and cost-effective method for drying clothes inside. She swears by the combination of an airer and a dehumidifier to get laundry dry without cranking up the central heating.
"A dehumidifier will draw moisture from the air and dry your clothes quicker," she explains. For those who don't have a dehumidifier, Nicola advises to position the airer where there's plenty of natural light and ensure a window is open to improve airflow. As a further tip for saving pennies, she suggests using a fan to move around the cold air which can aid in quickly drying garments and avoid dampness that leads to mould — pointing out it's "cheaper than putting the heating on."
Additionally, spacing out clothes on the rack and hanging garments on hangers before they go on the airer are just a couple more of Nicola's handy hacks to enhance indoor drying. And don't forget to rotate the items every so often, she says, as this guarantees all-around drying.
